Verlag Star Film-G.m.b.H.; black and white, 35mm; running time: originally 117 minutes, according to Eisner an 89 minute version is most commonly shown now, though some sources list current version as 99 minutes. In today's busy world, we don't have time to read the entire synopsis on a film's Wikipedia page. We need that information before we're finished with our pumpkin spice lattes. Thankfully, our readers came through in the clutch and provided entire film plots in 140 characters or less. The winner is below, but first the runners-up. In Germany, Hans Beckert is an unknown killer of girls. He whistles Edvard Grieg's 'In The Hall of the Mountain King', from the 'Peer Gynt' Suite I Op. 46 while attracting the little girls for death. The police force pressed by the Minister give its best effort trying unsuccessfully to arrest the serial killer. Set in a dangerous near future world, The Book of M tells the captivating story of a group of ordinary people caught in an extraordinary catastrophe who risk everything to save the ones they love. It is a sweeping debut that illuminates the power that memories have not only on the heart, but on the world itself.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that M. Night Shyamalan's Split (which arrived back in January, made critics happy, and went on to earn over $275M at the worldwide box office) was actually something of a surprise sequel to Shyamalan's Unbreakable. You also probably know that Shymalan's next project, Glass, will bring this unexpected trilogy to a close, and bring together all the major players from both Unbreakable and Split.
Today, we've got the first plot synopsis from the film, and with it comes the first suggestion of how all these characters may wind up interacting with one another. Let's take a look:
'From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.
M Plot Summary
Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum, who also produced the writer/director’s previous two films for Universal. They produce again with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider, who will executive produce.'
Yeah, this is pretty much exactly where we expected Glass to go, but that doesn't make this project any less exciting. Plus, there's still plenty we don't know: isn't Elijah Price in prison? How will Casey Cooke factor into all of this? Will only one of these four people survive the eventual throwdown? What sorta 'escalating encounters' are we talking about here, anyway?
Plot Summary Of M Butterfly
We're super excited to learn more about Glass and will be keeping our eyes peeled for any and all future updates. Stay tuned, but settle in for a long wait: Glass won't hit theaters until January of 2019.
